Typing Skills Are Necessary For Stenographers

There are some positions within the legal field which are open to people skilled in taking dictation. The meridian stenographer should be able to type at a speed of forty to fifty words per minute. This is an average speed most people are capable of meeting. In some law firms this position also includes data entry, which involves entering information into a database using a computer. This type of position usually does not require a degree, but can require the individual to have knowledge on how some software programs work such as computer word processor programs. The salary for this position varies according to the person’s skill and experience.
